SCHOOL INFORMATION The Calderone School of Music is a NJ Registered Professional Development Provider and offers private music lessons to students of all ages and levels on every instrument: strings, woodwinds, brasses, percussion, organ, piano, accordion, keyboards, voice, and popular, jazz and classical guitar and bass and harp. The school also has a College Preparatory Division and a Professional Development Division for Public School Teachers' Continuing Education. The curriculum is well-rounded and comprehensive. Designed on the Kodàly Music Philosophy, the school curricula includes the principles of the National Standards and the methodologies of Orff, Dalcroze and Suzuki. The experienced degreed teaching staff are trained by the school as master teachers. All styles of music are available for study including classical, jazz, Broadway, rock and roll, folk and popular music.
“Kindermusik” classes are offered as a fun-fill enriching adventure in music concepts for young children from birth to age 7. They are culturally enriching and develop cognition as well as provide learning age appropriate musical concepts and how to play instruments. These classes are also designed for the child who likes music but is not sure about studying an instrument or does not know what instrument he wants to study. Kindermusik teachers are degreed music instructors who are certified by Kindermusik and are young child specialists.
Students may choose to take part in ensembles, auditions, and competitions or simply learn for their own enjoyment. Weekly Saturday Mini-recitals are informal and provide an opportunity for experience and growth to any student at any level. Formal recitals take place in June and students receive their awards. The school also offers the CSM Evaluation Exams every spring. All extra curricular activities are optional.
